Never trained? Good.

Many of our students started from zero.

Some hadn’t exercised in years. You don’t need experience or to be in shape. Your fitness builds as you train, and your training partners want to see you succeed.

“Amazing gym!!! I am completely new to any martial arts and everyone was so welcoming! Will be back!”

Women on the mat

A welcoming room for women, too.

Women train in every class at Tetris, coached patiently and partnered with a friendly, respectful team. Learn to protect yourself, build awareness and grow your confidence while you get in great shape, and never feel behind while you learn.

“The instructor was so warm, patient, and thorough with explaining every technique. He made sure I never felt behind or overwhelmed… by the end of class I felt way more confident moving around the floor.”

FAQ

Before your first class.

All questions
Do I need experience or to be in shape to start?

No. You don’t need to be in shape, experienced or naturally athletic. You just need to show up. Many of our students started with little or no athletic background, and classes are beginner-friendly, so your fitness builds as you train.

Will I have to spar in my first class?

No. Your first class is a guided warm-up and simple techniques shown step by step, practiced with a friendly partner at your own pace. There’s no pressure to perform and no experience required.

What should I wear to my first class?

Comfortable workout clothes, like a T-shirt and athletic shorts or pants without zippers. No uniform is needed for your trial, and loaner uniforms are available. Bring a water bottle and sandals for walking off the mat.

Are drop-ins from other academies welcome?

Yes. Visiting grapplers from out of town are always welcome on the mat. Message or call us before you come so we can tell you which class fits.
