What your child learns

More than self-defense.

Jiu-Jitsu teaches kids to use technique, leverage and problem-solving instead of size, strength or aggression. Unlike activities focused only on winning or losing, it rewards continuous improvement and personal growth.

  1. 01

    Confidence for life

Kids build confidence through real skill. Parents often notice it at home and at school, not just on the mat.

  2. 02

    Focus & self-control

Jiu-Jitsu teaches children to respond thoughtfully instead of reacting emotionally, and to handle challenges with resilience.

  3. 03

    Coordination & body awareness

Balance, movement control and body awareness, built gradually through drills and games that feel like play.

  4. 04

    Teamwork & friendships

Kids train with others who are learning and improving together. Class becomes something they look forward to every week.

FAQ

Questions parents ask.

All questions
How old does my child need to be to start?

Kids can start at age 3. Our kids class is built for ages 3 to 13, and teens 14 and up train in our adult and teen class.

What should I wear to my first class?

Comfortable workout clothes, like a T-shirt and athletic shorts or pants without zippers. No uniform is needed for your trial, and loaner uniforms are available. Bring a water bottle and sandals for walking off the mat.

Is Jiu-Jitsu safe for kids?

Yes. Jiu-Jitsu has no punches or kicks, and kids learn control first. Classes are structured, with age-appropriate techniques and close supervision from coaches the whole time.

Can my family train together?

Yes, and many do. The kids class and the adult and teen class run back to back on weekday evenings, so parents and kids can train at the same academy on the same night.
